Effective Date: 23 March 2026
Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Nyas is deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors. Your contributions directly support our mission of preserving the memory, documenting the history, and spreading awareness of the Partition of India — one of humanity’s largest forced displacements. This policy outlines how we collect, use, and account for donations, and our approach to refund requests.
1. Accepting Donations
The Trust accepts donations from individuals, organisations, corporates, and institutions who wish to support our mission. Donations may be made through the following channels:
- Online via our website using credit/debit cards, UPI, net banking, or wallets
- Bank transfers / NEFT / RTGS to our designated trust account
- Demand Drafts or cheques in favour of the Trust
- International donations (subject to FCRA regulations and applicable approvals)
2. Use of Donations
All donations received by the Trust are used exclusively for the following purposes aligned with our objectives:
- Research, documentation, and archiving of Partition-related historical records
- Educational programmes, seminars, exhibitions, and awareness campaigns
- Publication of books, journals, and digital resources
- Relief and welfare activities for Partition survivors and their families
- Maintenance and operation of memorial sites and resource centres
- Administrative and operational costs of running the Trust
We maintain strict financial transparency and publish annual audited accounts in accordance with the applicable laws governing public charitable trusts in India.
3. Tax Benefits
Donations to the Trust may be eligible for income tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (subject to applicable limits and conditions as per current tax laws). Donors will receive an official receipt upon successful donation. It is the responsibility of the donor to verify eligibility and claim deductions as per their individual tax status.
4. Recurring Donations
For recurring or monthly donations made through our website, donors authorise the Trust to charge the specified amount at the agreed frequency. Donors may cancel recurring donations at any time by contacting us at info@vibhajanvibhishikasmritinyas.org with at least 5 business days’ notice before the next scheduled charge.
5. Refund Policy
5.1 General Principle
All donations made to the Trust are considered final, voluntary, and non-refundable, as they are made in support of a charitable mission and are immediately applied toward our activities.
5.2 Exceptional Circumstances for Refund
However, we recognise that errors may occur. Refunds may be considered under the following circumstances:
- A donation was made in error (e.g., duplicate transaction or wrong amount entered)
- Unauthorised use of a donor’s payment instrument (fraud or identity theft)
- A technical error resulting in incorrect charge
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to info@vibhajanvibhishikasmritinyas.org within 14 calendar days of the transaction date, along with proof of payment and a brief explanation.
5.3 Refund Process
Upon receiving a valid refund request:
- We will acknowledge the request within 3 business days
- The request will be reviewed and a decision communicated within 10 business days
- Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 7–14 business days
- A small processing or bank charge may be deducted from the refunded amount where applicable
5.4 Non-Refundable Circumstances
The following are not eligible for refunds:
- Donations made voluntarily where the donor subsequently changes their mind
- Donations where tax certificates or exemption receipts have already been issued
- Donations older than 30 days from the transaction date
- Donations made under a designated campaign or event that has been completed
6. Donor Confidentiality
We hold donor information in strict confidence and do not sell, rent, or share donor details with third parties for commercial purposes. Donor names may be recognised in our publications or events only with prior explicit consent.
7. Grievance Redressal
If you are dissatisfied with how your donation has been handled or have a concern about a refund decision, please write to us at info@vibhajanvibhishikasmritinyas.org. We are committed to resolving all grievances in a fair and timely manner.
